New Cross-Stitch Start - Mayflower Landing

I started a new cross-stitch today that is actually for our house rather than a gift for someone so I can share the progress here!!  The pattern is Mayflower Landing by Little House Needleworks.  My husband is a direct descendant of a Mayflower passenger and I had a distant aunt and uncle who were also passengers.  I would like to add their names to the design in some way so I will be sure to let you know if I do that.

My husband bought me the pattern, fabric, and fancy floss for Christmas - he's a definite keeper!  I am using 18ct Rustico in oatmeal and am using the called for colors except I had to substitute DMC945 for DMC950 and DMC838 for DMC3031.  With all the thread I have you would think I would have had enough of those two colors.  I used a really slick website to find good substitutions - https://www.thread-bare.com/tools/closest-dmc-thread-color-lookup.

The one issue I'm running into is that 18ct is really small!!!  Using lots of light and I will definitely need to use those reader glasses!  Be sure to follow my instagram to see more updates on my progress.
